Description

This mummy-like figurine, known as an ushabti, holds significant importance in ancient Egyptian funerary practices. Egyptians crafted these small ceramic objects, often using faience, to serve as surrogate servants for the deceased in the Afterlife. This particular blue-green ushabti features a mummified figure with a royal headdress and beard, symbolizing Osiris. Inscriptions on the figurine reference Osiris, Thoth, the god of writing, and a possible name of the deceased individual. These inscriptions held magical significance, activating the ushabti’s duty to serve in the Afterlife.

Downloads

The downloadable files are in an .STL format which is optimal for 3D printing. We suggest using a free software such as Meshmixer to edit the file to your needs. Some objects may need supports added or should be hollowed out for the most efficient printing. Any questions about 3D printing should be directed to kelsey.disko.project@umich.edu.
