Description

This bowl is an example of terra sigillata tableware which was popular in Italy and Gual. Terra sigillata can be reconginzed by its glossy surface slip which can range in color from pale orange to bright red. At the center of the vessel, within two circles, is the stamp OF FAGE in a rectangle, Of(ficina) Fla(vi) Ge(rmani). The potter Flavius Germanus was active at La Graufesenque and Bannassac during the Flavian period.
