Description

Preserved color abounds on this figurine of the god Harpocrates. He leans against a pink amphora, which rests on a yellow base, while holding a pink, rounded pot in his left arm. Next to Harpocrates stands a red and blue oven, on top of which sits a black, spotted pile of bread. Looking closely, you can see painted facial features, including black eyes, a red mouth, and yellow curls, and a pink and blue crown adorning his head. Multispectral imaging tells us which pigments were used to produce these colors: blue is an Egyptian Blue pigment, yellow is a yellow ochre pigment, black is a carbon black pigment, and pink is created in two ways, with a rose madder pigment for the crown and a mix of red ochre and white pigments for the amphora and pot.

The downloadable files are in an .STL format which is optimal for 3D printing. We suggest using a free software such as Meshmixer to edit the file to your needs. Some objects may need supports added or should be hollowed out for the most efficient printing. Any questions about 3D printing should be directed to kelsey.disko.project@umich.edu.
