Augustus Bust

Octavian, grandnephew and adopted son of Julius Caesar, was hailed as the bringer of peace and prosperity to the Roman world after a long period of civil and military strife. In 27 BCE, the Roman Senate conferred on him the honorary title of Augustus. Soon after, a new idealized portrait was created for him. The image (now known as Prima Porta type because the best preserved image was found at his wife’s villa at that site) is repeated in this sculpture. Its simplified yet powerful features and neatly arranged locks of hair may have likened Augustus, the first emperor of Rome, to Greek heroes of the Classical Age.

The downloadable files are in an .STL format which is optimal for 3D printing. We suggest using a free software such as Meshmixer to edit the file to your needs.
