2.5 cm H X 1.7 cm W X 0.5 cm D
Description
The Chnoubis amulet showcases a lion-headed serpent facing left. Its serpent form, intricately coiled, is adorned with seven or twelve rays encircling its head, sometimes arranged in pairs. The lion-headed snake design embodies the strength of a lion and solar attributes from Egyptian mythology. It represents the amulet’s protective nature, associated with both the Egyptian god Chnum and the Greek god Agathodaimon. Some amulets, including the Chnoubis amulet, were specifically associated with female reproductive concerns. Alongside its primary association with digestive ailments, it was also believed to protect against sciatica, eye ailments, and fertility issues.
